Frequently asked questions
Lovely Meds – Your Questions Asnwered
This FAQ covers how Lovely Meds works, what our treatments involve, how compounded medications are handled, and the safeguards in place around safety, privacy, and regulation.
What is Lovely Meds?
Lovely Meds is a telehealth service that connects adults in eligible U.S. states with licensed clinicians. Your health information is reviewed online, and if a medication is considered appropriate, a prescription is issued and fulfilled by a state-licensed U.S. pharmacy.
Which treatments are available through Lovely Meds?
Depending on eligibility and clinical judgment, clinicians may prescribe treatments such as GLP-1–based therapies (e.g., semaglutide or tirzepatide), oral formulations, peptides like sermorelin, NAD-related products, MIC/B12 or Lipo-C, and other selected wellness medications. Availability can vary over time and by state.
How does the online consultation process work?
You complete a secure health intake form with details about your medical history, medications, allergies, and goals. A licensed clinician reviews this information and may ask follow-up questions before deciding whether to prescribe a particular treatment.
Do I automatically get a prescription if I fill out the form?
No. Completing the intake does not guarantee a prescription. The clinician will only prescribe if they believe the treatment is safe and appropriate for you based on the information you provide.
Who are the clinicians working with Lovely Meds?
Your intake is reviewed by U.S-licensed healthcare professionals who are authorized to prescribe in the state where you are located. They follow evidence-informed protocols and use their clinical judgment for each case.
What is a compounded medication?
A compounded medication is a customized formulation prepared by a state-licensed compounding pharmacy when a clinician determines it may be appropriate for a specific patient. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved.
How are compounded medications different from FDA-approved medications?
Compounded medications are not reviewed or approved by the FDA and may differ from FDA-approved products in strength, form, route of administration, or inactive ingredients. FDA-approved medications have undergone formal approval processes, while compounded products are prepared under pharmacy compounding regulations.
Does Lovely Meds compound medications in-house?
No. Compounded formulations are prepared by independent, state-licensed U.S. compounding pharmacies. Lovely Meds provides the telehealth platform and clinical review; the pharmacy prepares and ships the medication after a valid prescription is issued.
Are compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide FDA-approved?
No. Compounded semaglutide and compounded tirzepatide are not FDA-approved products. FDA-approved injectable versions of these medications exist separately.
Why might a clinician recommend a compounded formulation?
A clinician may consider a compounded option when they believe a different strength, format, or route of administration may be appropriate for a specific patient. This decision is always based on individual clinical judgment, not on shortages or substitution claims.
Do compounded GLP-1 products replace branded medications like Ozempic® or Wegovy®?
No. Compounded products do not replace or imply equivalence to branded FDA-approved medications. They are separate, customized formulations, and patients should discuss all options with a licensed healthcare professional.
Are you currently relying on FDA shortage status for compounded GLP-1 products?
No. Lovely Meds does not market compounded products as being available due to current FDA drug shortages. Messaging related to shortages has been removed to align with transparency and regulatory expectations.
How do GLP-1 medications fit into a treatment plan?
GLP-1–based medications may be one part of a broader plan that can include nutrition, physical activity, and other medical care. A licensed clinician will decide if a GLP-1 therapy is appropriate for your situation. No specific results or outcomes are guaranteed.
What should I know about GLP-1 safety warnings?
GLP-1 medications carry important safety information, including a boxed warning related to the potential risk of thyroid C-cell tumors. They should not be used by individuals with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN-2). Always discuss risks with a licensed healthcare professional.
Who should not use GLP-1–based therapies?
These medications are not appropriate for everyone. They are generally not suitable for people with a personal or family history of MTC or MEN-2, for certain patients with specific medical conditions, or for those with known hypersensitivity to components of the medication. A clinician will review your profile before prescribing.
What side effects might occur with semaglutide or tirzepatide?
Patients taking semaglutide- or tirzepatide-containing medications may experience side effects, and these differ between individuals. Gastrointestinal symptoms, such as nausea or stomach discomfort, are commonly reported. You should review the full safety information with a clinician and seek medical guidance if any symptoms feel concerning.
What is the difference between injectable and oral GLP-1 formulations?
Injectable formulations are administered as subcutaneous injections, while oral compounded formulations are taken by mouth as troches, according to instructions from the clinician and pharmacy. Oral compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide is not FDA-approved, even though injectable forms have FDA-approved versions.
How are oral semaglutide or tirzepatide taken?
Oral compounded GLP-1 formulations are typically supplied as troches to be used as directed by the prescribing clinician and the pharmacy’s labeling. Always follow the instructions supplied with your prescription and ask questions if anything is unclear.
Are oral GLP-1 formulations more convenient or effective than injections?
Some patients prefer an option that does not involve injections, but “convenience” or “effectiveness” varies by person. No claims of superiority or guaranteed outcomes are made. A clinician can help you understand the pros and cons of available options.
What other treatments besides GLP-1s are available?
Depending on your profile and clinician judgment, therapies such as sermorelin, NAD-related products, MIC/B12, Lipo-C, and certain other wellness-oriented medications may be considered. All are prescribed only after a licensed clinician reviews your intake.
Are treatments like sermorelin, NAD+, MIC/B12, or Lipo-C FDA-approved for wellness use?
Many peptide or wellness-type formulations prescribed through Lovely Meds are compounded and not FDA-approved for the specific uses described. Patients should discuss the regulatory status, risks, and alternatives with their clinician before starting therapy.
Does Lovely Meds guarantee results from any treatment?
No. Individual responses vary widely. Lovely Meds does not guarantee specific outcomes such as a certain amount of weight change, energy increase, or symptom improvement.
Can Lovely Meds manage my entire healthcare?
No. Lovely Meds focuses on clearly defined treatment areas and is not a replacement for primary care. You should maintain an ongoing relationship with a local healthcare provider for comprehensive medical care, routine screening, and complex conditions.
Is my personal and medical information kept private?
Your information is handled using secure systems, and access is limited to the clinicians and pharmacy teams involved in your care and order fulfillment. We follow applicable privacy and data-protection requirements.
Will my information be shared with anyone else?
Information is shared only as needed for your care, such as with the prescribing clinician and the pharmacy filling your prescription. You may choose to share information with your primary care provider as well.
How are medications shipped?
Once a prescription is issued, the state-licensed pharmacy prepares your medication and sends it to the address on file using its standard fulfillment and shipping processes. Tracking information is typically provided once the order has been dispatched.
Is the packaging discreet?
Orders are shipped in standard packaging without visible medication names. The label is designed to focus on delivery details rather than the contents of the parcel.
How will charges appear on my bank or card statement?
Charges typically appear under the name of Lovely Meds or an associated billing entity. Product names do not appear on your statement.
Do you accept insurance for these treatments?
Lovely Meds does not bill insurance directly. Patients may check with their insurance or benefits provider to see whether out-of-network reimbursement or use of HSA/FSA funds is possible for certain expenses.
How much do treatments cost?
Pricing varies by medication, formulation, and duration. Current prices are shown within the platform, and you will see the total cost before you complete checkout. Costs for compounded and FDA-approved options may differ.
Can I get a refund if I change my mind?
Once a prescription has been processed and the pharmacy has prepared your medication, it generally cannot be returned or refunded due to pharmacy regulations. For questions about specific orders, please contact support.
What if my order is delayed or lost?
If your shipment seems delayed or you have not received it within the expected timeframe, you can check the tracking information and contact support. We can help coordinate with the pharmacy or shipping carrier to investigate what happened.
Which U.S. states does Lovely Meds currently serve?
Lovely Meds is available in many, but not all, U.S. states. Eligibility depends on state regulations and clinician licensing. The platform will indicate whether services are available in your state before you complete your order.
Can I use Lovely Meds if I’m outside the United States?
No. Lovely Meds is designed for patients located within eligible U.S. states at the time of consultation and prescribing. Services are not offered for patients located outside the United States.
Is Lovely Meds suitable for emergency or urgent care?
No. Lovely Meds is not an emergency service. If you have severe or rapidly worsening symptoms, chest pain, difficulty breathing, thoughts of self-harm, or any other emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number immediately.
How does Lovely Meds stay aligned with healthcare advertising and telehealth standards?
Lovely Meds reviews and updates its materials to reflect current telehealth, pharmacy, and transparency requirements. This includes clearly stating when medications are compounded, when they are not FDA-approved, and how they differ from FDA-approved options.
Does Lovely Meds claim that compounded products are identical to branded medications?
No. We do not represent compounded medications as identical, interchangeable, or equivalent to branded, FDA-approved products. We clarify that compounded formulations are customized and not FDA-approved.
How often are your clinical protocols and content reviewed?
Clinical protocols and patient-facing content are reviewed periodically and may be updated when regulations, guidance, or internal standards change. The goal is to keep information accurate, balanced, and transparent.
Can I share my Lovely Meds records with my usual doctor?
Yes. You are encouraged to keep your primary care provider informed. You can share information from Lovely Meds with your regular doctor so they have a complete view of your treatments and medications.
